The Amity Gallery is pleased to begin its Spring 2016 season, after a winter hiatus, with the work of Michael Cosimano, a native son of Warwick. Self-expression for Michael has been essential from an early age. He attended the University of Delaware, graduating with a major in Anthropology, a concentration in World Religions and a focus in Sculpture. Traveling around the USA has broadened his perspective and inspired his art.

“I believe that an awareness and a relationship with the combination of colors in nature can be one of the keys to our inner balance. Living through my flux, I’ve seen my style of art change…Creating is the essence of my relationship with my subconscious.”

Michael’s style of work focuses on abstract painting and sculpture. Specifically he enjoys the challenge of finding balance with color and texture and is inspired by the works of Gerhard Richter, Pablo Picasso and Mark Rothko.

Two of his pieces were included in a previous show, “Friends of Ian Sharp,” at the Amity Gallery. He won second place at Art in the Garden in 2006 and received runner up for Emerging Artist of the Hudson Valley from The Wallkill River School of Art in 2013.
