Becoming Human

Songs of observation, realization and transformation

Saturday, December 16th

Doors open 7:00PM music at 7:30PM

Jim Kunkel on classical, electric, and 12-string guitars; Mickey Kopchak on bass; and Marji Zintz on voice, guitar, and percussion–three people who have been making lots of music for lots of years and are coming together now for this special, artful, moving, evocative project. Most of the pieces performed will be Jim’s compositions. Mickey also composes.

Our special treat will be Mary Hood, a compelling, innovative and astoundingly talented writer and performer.  Mary is a rising voice from a digital generation singing about old-school themes like loneliness, love, loss, and longing with twisting acoustic guitar and a reedy, soulful voice. Her music stands alone, but her main influences–Fiona Apple and Ella Fitzgerald–can be heard in her raw and resonant style, while others have compared her lyrics and storminess to acoustic legends Elliot Smith and Nick Drake. Mary’s hypnotic and honest sound captivate an audience, while her unique finger-picking weaves through each lyric, creating a musical story-line all its own.

Doors open at 7pmÂ

$15
